Service Design Thinks Cologne No.4 meets “Design the new Business”

And again it‘s time for Service Design Thinks in Cologne!

We are starting into the new year with a screening of the documentation “Design the New Business”. A great opportunity to watch the movie before its actual release and to discuss it afterwards. The line-up of the movie definitively sounds promising and so does the announcement:

“As our world changes, the challenges to business grow.
Old ways of thinking are being replaced by open minds and creativity. 
Design is playing a central role in helping solve problems and drive the future.
We invite you to see how design is shaping the new business.”

We are very happy to team up with Peter Schreck from Idea Republica for the 4th Service Design Thinks. In the future Idea Republic will organize regular screenings of inspirational documentations and demonstrations from the field of idea economy.

Colorful drinks and yummy soup will be served at the betahaus Büdchen.

Überraschungen sind in unserem Alltag allgegenwärtig. Bei Zunahme von Komplexität und Chaos in der Gesellschaft werden die Dinge weniger vorhersehbar und planbar. Es gibt überraschende Wendungen und Ereignisse.

Wir schätzen Überraschungen im Alltag, die uns Abwechslung bieten und emotionalisieren. Sie können neue Impulse geben und ermutigen. Überraschungen können aber auch den Flow unterbrechen und demotivierend wirken. Welche Rolle spielt Überraschung in der Psychologie und in den Sozialwissenschaften? Welche Ansätze und Methoden gibt es, um mit Überraschungen umgehen zu können, privat oder beruflich? Was können wir z.B. von Spielen, Schauspiel und Yoga lernen?

Entdecke auf den SERVICE DESIGN THINKS die „Überraschung“ aus unterschiedlichen Perspektiven – und erzähle uns von Deiner Idee zum Thema.
Im neu eröffneten betahaus | Köln treffen sich Service Designer und andere Disziplinen zum interdisziplinären Austausch.

Service Design Drinks Cologne meet “HAPPINESS”

Since the first SDD took place we discussed a lot about how to adapt Service Design Drinks to our own needs and expectations and basically dealt with the format for our meetings such as book or article reviews and commonly viewing of TED talks, SD Thinks or other videos…

To combine all ideas we decided to rather focus on a specific topic than on a specific format. In practice this means we have one topic for our meeting and everybody is invited to contribute and present videos, articles, case studies, methods, book reviews, theories… and so on.
The SDD in Cologne and Berlin have the same topics so that we afterwards can exchange the in- and output of both communities. Cologne and Berlin alternately define the topic for the next SDD at the end of each SDD.

SDD/CB present their next topic:

DESIGN HAPPINESS
gross national happiness vs. gross domestic product / personal lifetime goals vs. social moral / success vs. failure / wealth vs. prosperity

All kind of contributions (small/ big, digital/ analogue, practical/ theoretical…) are welcome - everybody is a creator of this night!

Cologne Service Design Drinks!

On March 19th the Kick-Off of Service Design Drinks will take place in Cologne at Cafe Hallmackenreuther (Brüsseler Platz 9) with an informal and lively come together. The doors are open to everybody who is interested in Service Design and Design Thinking, in having inspiring conversations and in connecting with like-minded people while having a Kölsch.
